Franklin, NC was incorporated in 1855 and it is located near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Great Smokies. Franklin offers a variety of recreational activities from biking, hiking, to golf. There is one golf course in the heart of the city, but there are also several nearby. Here is a review of the top golf courses.



Franklin Golf Course

Franklin golf course is a public course for all ages and skill levels. The course is 2,933 yards long, par 36, with 9 holes. It is a challenging course with beautiful views and other amenities including a driving range, golf simulator, swimming pool, snack bar, and a pro shop. It is open all year round and annual memberships are available.


Sky Valley Golf Course

Sky valley golf course is semi-private and it is open to the public, members and guests. It is was opened in the mid-70s but was redesigned in 2007 to lengthen the yard which has a current length of over 6900 yards. There is a golf learning center with a large putting green and a practice range. The course elevation is 3500 feet with par 36-36-72 and it is open all year round.



Smoky Mountain Golf Course

The smoky mountain golf course is an 18-hole, par-71 course that measures 6099 yards. The rates available are two: in-season and off-season. In-season is from April to October and off-season is from November to March and the rates vary for students, seniors, 9 holes, 18, holes, and twilight hours. There are membership options for couples, students, individuals, and corporate.


Wade Hampton Golf Course

Wade Hampton golf course is an 18-hole private course that offers a variety of playing surfaces and tee locations to accommodate players of all skill levels. There are golf programs that offer friendly competitions for members like “game-arranging.” This program is conducted by the golf staff daily and members only need to inform the staff they are available. There is also a golf shop stocked for all golf needs.


Trillium Links Course

The Trillium links course was carefully designed by Morris Hatalsky. It is an 18-hole course with bent grass tees, magnificent vistas, greens and fairways, and 4-sets of tees. There are a variety of golf lessons available for advanced, intermediate, and junior. The staff also offer group and private lessons. The golf shop has equipment and merchandise and is run by knowledgeable staff.


Wildcat Cliffs Course

The Wildcat Cliffs Course is an 18-course with 4,250-foot elevation. The course was originally designed by George W. Cobb and later renovated by Bill Bergin. It provides nine tee options for players of all skill levels. The course has a golf shop that is open daily and has golf fashion, accessories, and equipment.


Highland Falls Course

The Highland Fall course is 6,300 yards in length with 18 holes. There are tournaments for members including championships for men and ladies and special holiday events for holidays such as labor day and memorial day. There are also tournaments that don’t involve competition such as Friday twilight golf.
