Ford 250

Always a popular choice in the outstanding Ford Super Duty lineup, the F-250 is back for 2022 with the power and reliability it’s known for, as well as some new bells and whistles to pique the interest of those who might be on the fence about buying a new truck this year. Keep reading to find out why you should take the 2022 Ford F-250 on a test drive!

Ford’s Bestselling Heavy Duty Truck

Whether you’re looking for a family vehicle, a rugged off-roader, or a dutiful work truck, the F-250 fits the bill on every front. With several powertrain options, loads of attractive comfort and safety features, and custom options galore, your F-250 can be exactly what you want it to be.

Buyers can choose between two gas engines and one diesel engine. The base option is a 6.2-liter V-8 that delivers 385 hp and 430 lb-ft. This comes standard on all models except the Limited trim, which has a turbodiesel powertrain. The 6.2-liter is paired to a 6- or 10-speed automatic transmission, and you can opt for all-wheel drive on any model. If you have a huge RV to haul, we recommend going with the V8 powertrain or the turbodiesel, which can pull up to 37,000 lbs.

How Much Does the 2022 Ford F-250 Cost?

The basic XL trim will cost you $35,000 but moving up through the six trim levels can take you all the way up to $90,000 in a hurry. Most buyers seem to go with a mid-range option, which will get you some very nice tech upgrades without breaking the bank.

If you’ll be using your F-250 for serious hauling, it’s advisable to pay more for a truck with a more robust powertrain that includes a heavy-duty tow package. All-wheel drive is also nice to have and only adds a couple of thousand dollars to the price. If a deluxe interior is important to you, the Lariat and Limited trims rival any luxury brand out there but will take you to the higher end of the price range.

New Features for 2022

The F-250 has not received the same complete re-design as the F-150 for this model year, but there are still some nice new touches that will appeal to buyers. A conveniently placed bed step is now optional on most trim levels, as are adjustable towing mirrors that make it easier than ever to keep an eye on your load. There are a couple of new paint color options as well.

What About Payload?

Even your most basic F-250 can carry plenty on its bed. If you opt for a model with a crew cab or long-bed configuration, with all-wheel drive, the payload will be about 3,040 lbs. The configuration that will be able to carry the most is the regular cab, long-bed model, which can hold up to 4,260 pounds.
