2. Crowne Plaza Resort Asheville, Crowne 2 Course
The Crowne 2 Course is an excellent course for the beginner golfer, as it has wide-open fairways and only one water hazard. If you’re not too experienced with golfing but still want to try your hand at playing on a 9-hole course, then we recommend that you play this course! It’s got easier approach shots and shorter holes, which make it perfect for most beginners!

3. Baltimore Forest Country Club
The Biltmore Forest Country Club is one of the newer courses in Asheville. Despite offering some stunning views from its elevated tees, it has a reputation for being one of the more challenging courses around town.
The fairways are narrow and unforgiving, so even experienced players find themselves cursing at their shots on occasion. In addition, there is plenty of water hazard here, which will penalize any golfer who doesn’t pay attention to where they’re putting their ball down off the tee box (or falls into it). But don’t let all this talk scare you away – there are some wide-open greens making it easy to recover from any errant shots.
4. Cliffs at Walnut Cove Course
The Cliffs at Walnut Cove Course is a private, 18-hole course covering a little over 7000 yards. It’s a bit of a trek to get there from Asheville, but the scenic views and challenging terrain are worth it. In addition, the course is home to many Carolina golf tournaments, which is something that locals take pride in.
There are numerous water hazards, so players need to be cautious for sure – just part of what makes this course special! Those who don’t play very often or want some assistance with their game can always hire an instructor ahead of time.
